Four days ago, I turned 32.

Shortly after I turned 31, I purchased Isa Genzken's 7-inch record Tri-Star on eBay—a sound work she recorded at the Düsseldorf airport when she was 31.

Each of the works in this exhibition is tethered to the threshold of 31, though this number sits differently in each artist's life. This exhibition is a tracing of what didn't align, where the unsynchronized becomes synchronized with a new resonance. It is a kind of sideways mapping—a diagram of temporal overlap and slant, where works made at the same age are repositioned to sit alongside one another, despite having emerged from different times, places, and contexts. It's a kind of time travel—a way of gathering across years, misaligning to align.
