Josey and Teatro Grottesco present:
Cutting, ripping, lacerating. An incision made with surgical precision. The artworks in Scindere have each undergone a separation or removal of materials; the covering of a jewelry display case, the unstapling of a magazine supplement, the hem of a suit. This undoing, or scission could be thought of as a form of editing or the splicing of film. The cut creates montage.
The staging of these alterations are brought together under the Italian verb, Scinderemeaning to cut, divide or cleave. Like Suspiria, Tenebrae, or Inferno, Scindere could also be the title of a giallo–the Italian subgenre of horror films popularized by Dario Argento
