During a residency in New York, in the period 1/4 – 1/8 2018, I documented paintings from thrift stores that spoke to me intuitively. I photographed the individual painting as it was presented in the shop and subsequently went to the studio and painted a new version of it based on the photo. The paintings were filtered through my camera lens and my brush strokes, and the paintings of the paintings thus became a version 2.0 of the “originals”. After drying time, I donated 31 Versions 2.0´s to arbitrary thrift stores around New York City, where I asked the shop assistant to give each painting a descriptive title. As, for example, “The Shining Beauty of Human Nature” and “Small Handmade Painting”. Since I got back from NYC I have continued to paint Version 2.0´s of paintings found in thrift stores in and around the city of Copenhagen.
