indefatigable, fields harrington’s first solo show in Europe, explores the cycles of extraction that link labourers in the gig economy and lithium miners in the global South. Structured along the formal and metaphorical concepts of the grid and the current, the exhibition stages a functional installation of DIY air-conditioners and an affective portrait series of e-bikes – the juiced-up types used by delivery workers all across New York City – in repose. Building on the artist’s research into exhaustion, or rather, the condition of inexhaustibility that emerges within the extractivist logic of late capitalism, indefatigable highlights the material, environmental, but also the social and emotional tolls of anonymised labor in our current era.
indefatigable is curated by Mélanie Scheiner, with gratitude to Julius Woeste.
